Incorporated in Hammond Indiana in 1964, Bell Parts Supply has enjoyed a long history of growth and prosperity by fostering personal relationships with customers and aggressively marketing our products and services. In the early days, outside salespeople and telemarketing sales promotions put Bell Parts on the appliance parts map. During the 1970's and 80's, rapid growth was achieved through new locations in Highland, South Bend, and Lafayette. Aided by an expanding marketplace, a new computer system, and by gaining national exposure, all major American Appliance Manufacturers were represented by Bell Parts Supply by the end of the 1980s. In the 1990's, a new warehouse facility was built in Highland, a new location was added in Indianapolis, and Bell Parts entered the export market for appliance parts.
As technology changed the way businesses went to market in the late 1990's, we set out to position ourselves on the "cutting edge" of industry change. Over the next five years, we focused on utilizing technology to increase efficiencies and better market our products and services. We streamlined work processes, improved productivity, and allocated more resources to expand our export and web-site businesses. By researching and investing in growth strategies that were new to our industry, or remained underdeveloped, we began to generate sharp sales increases year after year.
While 2000 & 2001 were good years for our company, recent years have been exceptional. In 2005, a double-digit sales increase was realized for the fourth consecutive year. Our revenue and productivity growth have driven exceptional bottom line performance. Strong sales and rising profits have provided the financial flexibility to invest in new products, add inventory to support new product warranty, and implement a new computer system designed specifically to support our Web Site businesses. The order entry system will allow our retail consumers and our wholesale dealers to research model numbers, check sales promotions, place orders, and receive vital information and services on-line.
We believe the strength of our company is our geographic location and the dedicated people who work for our organization. While we have substantial market share in the Chicago and Indianapolis markets, our Midwest location allows us to ship UPS within two business days to a large segment of the U.S. population. From New York to Nebraska, and Minnesota to Alabama, we are positioned to supply our customers with products in a fast and efficient manner. We aim to fill 98% of all line items ordered from current inventory. We ship all orders received by 5:00pm (cst) the same day. We double-check every order that is shipped for part number and quantity accuracy. Our goal is to provide our customers with the best value of any supplier in the industry.
In recent years, Bell Parts has been recognized by all of our major vendors for achieving sales and customer service excellence. At the 2006 appliance parts distributors spring convention, we were honored to win GE's Standards of Excellence Award and Whirlpool's Gold Ring Quality of Service Award. This was Whirlpool's second year of the award. Both awards are very prestigious as there are few recipients each year. It was the second consecutive year we were chosen for each award. We were also recognized for outstanding sales by Electrolux with the 2005 Volume Achievement Award. In 2004, we received the Maytag Quota Achievement Award for exceeding sales quota 10 consecutive years. We were particularly proud of this award, as we were only the third parts distributor in the nation to achieve this milestone.
